How the 90/180 rule works
- You can stay in the Schengen Area for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. The window is rolling — it looks back 180 days from today, not at a calendar year.
- Both arrival and departure days count as Schengen days.
- With a Spanish TIE, days in Spain do not count toward your limit — only days in other Schengen countries count.
- Schengen countries include most of the EU plus Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein. Ireland and Cyprus are not in Schengen.
