Are you on track for the 183 days?

Renewing the Non-Lucrative Visa needs more than 183 days a year living in Spain.  Add the day you arrived and every trip out of the country.  You see how many days you have this year, and how many you can still spend away before December 31.

Trips out of Spain the day you left and the day you came back

The days you leave and come back are counted as days in Spain.  Trips you are only planning count too: add them to see whether they fit.

Days in Spain this year

More than 183 days means 184 or more.  The office reads the calendar year, so plan each year on its own.

Keep the proof as you go

    • Boarding passes and tickets for every flight in and out.  Passports are no longer stamped since the EES started in April 2026.
    • Your padrón, the town hall registration, and the lease or deed that goes with it.
    • Everyday life in Spain: Spanish bank card payments, utility bills, a gym or a doctor.  Small things add up to real residence.

Not legal advice. A planning count.  The immigration office decides, and days in Spain also bear on tax residency, which a cross-border tax adviser should look at.
